Evanescence

Evanescence, my first ever WordPress theme is a simple blue on white fluid width theme with two columns. The theme is released under GPL. Feel free to use the theme on your WordPress weblog and provide your valuable feedback. Contact me if you have any problems installing the theme or if you find any defect that needs a fix.

Installation
- Extract the evanescence.zip file in a convenient location
- Copy the ‘evanescence’ folder to ‘/wp-content/themes/’ directory in your web server.
- Log in to the WordPress Administration Panels
- Select the ‘Design’ menu.
- Select the Evanescence theme from the available list of themes to preview
- Activate the theme.
- Click ‘View Site’ at the top of the Panel’s screen. Your selection should immediately become active.
Check this page regularly for updates and newer versions of the theme.
ghosttie, to have a ” picture for blockquote, make that picture as a backround for blockquote. For example put the following code in the bottom of the style.css file. Replace http://imageurl with the actual url of the image.
blockquote { background: url('http://imageurl') top left; }For changing the title of tags and plugins, use the ‘all in one seo’ plugin. With that, you can have complete control over such things. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/
Srini - thanks for your response but I can’t get the blockquote css to work properly - if there is a picture in the post on the left of the blockquote, the ” picture goes behind it
For example take a look at http://www.wizardstower.co.uk/wordpress/2008/07/25/adsense-catch-22-redux/ - you can see the ” picture begind the google logo
ghosttie, that’s because the picture ‘floats’ in the left. Unfortunately we can’t do anything about this because, when the picture floats, it is still inside the other block level elements, so it’s as if the picture is inside the blockquote. One easy solution I can suggest is to float the image to the right side.

I am in the process of converting an ancient blog from self-hosted blogger to blogspot and back to a WP blog on my own domain, and your theme suits my blog so well it may be worth a look.

Will this theme work in WordPress 2.7 when it is released?
The theme will work in 2.7 without problems. However, I plan to update the theme to support features like comment paging and threading in 2.7.

I am wondering, though, why I have so much blank space above the “Home” link in my sidebar (at http://ahsgerman.com).
Any tips would be appreciated.
