Evanescence

Evanescence, my first ever WordPress theme is a simple blue on white fluid width theme with two columns. The theme is released under GPL. Feel free to use the theme on your WordPress weblog and provide your valuable feedback. Contact me if you have any problems installing the theme or if you find any defect that needs a fix.

Installation

  1. Extract the zip/tar file in a convenient location and copy the ‘evanescence-1_5′ folder to ‘your-blog-url/wp-content/themes/’ directory in your web server.
  2. Log in to the WordPress Administration Panels.
  3. Select the ‘Presentation’ subpanel.
  4. From the ‘Select’ column in the table, select ‘Evanescence 1.5′.
  5. Click ‘View Site’ at the top of the Panel’s screen. Your selection should immediately become active.

Check this page regularly for updates and newer versions of the theme.

    hi srini. i’m not sure who to ask for help. it seems that my feeds are not working at all. alwas came out
    as “This feed contains code errors”or invalid feeds. even the XHTML is not valid. pls advise :(

    Hi Srini,

    something i discovered while i translated the theme to german language, the body-background color isn’t set in the css file. Most of the Browser use white as there default color, expect Netscape 4 (don’t know the newer versions).

    Yeah, I love simplicity. You can definitely expect my future themes to be as simple. Actually, I’m more of a coder than a designer… I practice web design just to complement my web programming skills. So, I won’t be able to design lavish templates even if I wish to ;)

    Srini, many thanks for a theme! I have a small problem. I use plugin wp-dtree (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-dtree-30/) and when the tree is displayed (Firefox 2) between lines too big distance turns out. Looks a little not accurately. What would you advise?

    Igor, I’m not able to access your site now. But from what you say, I think you will have to change the stylesheet and/or add some styles to the header to accomplish what you want. Look out for the class/ID name under which wp-dtree comes and then make the margin 0 for those elements. For example, #wp-dtree li {margin:0;}

    Hi, I love your theme, but there is only one thing I’m not so fond of, that is, when the page is rendered in IE, I see horizontal bar no matter what. As a matter of fact, this page shows the horizontal bar in IE. I’m wondering if there is anything you could do to remove that.

    I checked this page in both IE 6 and 7… I don’t seen anything different from the way the page renders in other browsers. I have no idea of what the horizontal bar you’re talking about ?? :?

    I meant your evanescence theme. The theme here doesn’t have the horizontal bar, but your evanescence shows horizontal bar on IE. I’m a developer myself, so I should figure this one out…

    What a difference between 1.2 and 1.5 versions of evanescence. I have a 1.2v Do I need to upgrade?

    sk, lots of improvements made from 1.2 through 1.5, mainly improvements in styling, layout, etc. But one reason I think you should upgrade is that v1.5 has better support for tags.

    Dear weakish, I’m currently not using Evanescence theme in my site :) . I’m using a new theme that I’m developing and actively testing in my site. So it’s not perfect. Moreover, adding all kinds of scripts from third party sites doesn’t help validation. When you download and use one of my already released themes such as evanescence and use it without adding any third party code, I’m sure it will pass validation.

    Srini, this is a great theme!
    But I need a little help (i think all people needs a help after WP 2.5…). I edited the widgets using the WP 2.5, and after that the sidebar goes to the bottom. But if you hit a single post it comes back to its normal place. On WP 2.3 everything was normal and i didn’t change the images.
    Except that, everything is normal.

    Robespierre, I checked the theme with 2.5 and 2.5.1 and it works perfectly. You can check it right here by previewing the theme. I think some image or an unclosed/improperly nested html tag in your site breaking the layout. Maybe, you’ve made some modifications to the theme that didn’t work out as well. Please check it up.

    Help!
    I’m experimenting two problems with Losemymind with sidebar 1.0 theme:
    1.date entry is wrong, appear 2007 instead 2008
    2.tags under the post are not displayed, there is only a gray bar without any tags…

    Can anyone help me?
    I don’t know php…
