Evanescence

Evanescence, my first ever WordPress theme is a simple blue on white fluid width theme with two columns. The theme is released under GPL. Feel free to use the theme on your WordPress weblog and provide your valuable feedback. Contact me if you have any problems installing the theme or if you find any defect that needs a fix.

The theme can be downloaded from the WordPress theme directory.

Installation

  1. Extract the evanescence.zip file in a convenient location
  2. Copy the ‘evanescence’ folder to ‘/wp-content/themes/’ directory in your web server.
  3. Log in to the WordPress Administration Panels
  4. Select the ‘Design’ menu.
  5. Select the Evanescence theme from the available list of themes to preview
  6. Activate the theme.
  7. Click ‘View Site’ at the top of the Panel’s screen. Your selection should immediately become active.

Check this page regularly for updates and newer versions of the theme.

    Evanesence is a great clean them.
    How can you set the width of you blog? It creates a problem if you have a larger monitor eg 23″

  6. Great fluid theme works just nicely, a wide layout is a must for a coders blog to be able to past code snippets. After using the theme for a few months though it’s starting to feel a little dull, needs just a little more zing!

    I’ve just started using WP and I’m using Evanescence with WP3. I have an RSS widget in the sidebar which doesn’t show up. If I view the Page Source, it goes straight from the Archive widget I’ve placed before the RSS one to the Pages widget I put after the RSS one. Any help appreciated!

  8. Srini, I just wanted to thank you for this theme, after trying various other themes yours is the one I like best! Everything works great for me. I especially like the fuidity of the wide layout.   9. Hi Srini.
    I am a student who maintains a blog for a professor. I’ve chosen to use your evanescence theme, which I think looks brilliant. I’m just learning css and such, so I do not know how to fix three problems I am having. I was hoping you could give me a hint.

    First, the title of our blog needs to be a bit bigger. What do I change to enlarge it a bit? And the subtitle is lost as the blue washes out to white. I like the look of the washout a lot, but it is too hard to read the small text. Any suggestions?

    Second, I have add a follow/share plugin so that users can recommend it to other academics. The default style seems to want to put a bullet point above each share link (ie, facebook, twitter, email). How do I get rid of these bullets?

    Third, I want to make the text just a bit darker. I don’t know where to start on this issue.

    I know you must be busy, so if you can’t help out then I understand. But any help you give would be greatly appreciated.
    Regardless, I think your choices of color and movement for this theme are fantastic.
